Irish income tax client checklist for accountants
A clearer information request starts with the right year, the right records and a visible list of what is still missing.
General information-gathering guidance, not tax advice or an exhaustive Form 11 checklist. Your accountant decides what applies to you.
Agree the year and the request
Ask your accountant which tax year the records cover and when they need them. The year in which you file is not necessarily the income year. Use the firm's records deadline, rather than assuming a date from a general checklist.
Start with personal circumstances
Confirm contact details and tell your accountant about changes in marital status, dependants, residence or other circumstances they ask about. Send sensitive identifiers only through the method agreed with your firm.
Identify every relevant income source
Gather the records your accountant requests for employment, self-employment, rent, pensions, investments and overseas income, where relevant. Flag a new source rather than assuming last year's information still applies.
Gather supporting records
Keep income summaries, relevant expense records, pension contribution evidence and receipts for items your accountant asks you to review together. For rental income or asset disposals, ask the firm which statements and transaction details it needs. Having a receipt does not by itself establish tax relief.
Make gaps visible
Check that documents cover the requested period and are readable. List missing records separately, with any expected arrival date, instead of treating a partial submission as complete. Your accountant may need clarification or additional evidence.
Review before handing over
Check names, years, figures and document names. Identify estimates and unresolved questions. The accountant still reviews the information, determines the tax treatment and completes any return or filing work agreed with you.
Where Tax Profiler fits
Your firm sends a branded link. Clients answer the relevant questions without signing in, with progress saved on their device. After explicit submission, a PDF and attached documents are emailed to the firm. Tax Profiler does not calculate your liability or submit a Form 11 to Revenue.
The firm must protect the email and documents it receives. No-client-storage does not remove the firm's confidentiality and retention responsibilities.
Official guidance and further reading
Revenue's guidance explains that pre-populated Form 11 information must be confirmed or validated, and that filing is completed through ROS. Sources checked on 1 November 2026; always check the guidance for the applicable year.
